Number of companies declared insolvent drops by about 15 pc

The number of companies that went into insolvency in January dropped by 14.5 per cent, down to 2,054, from 2,403 in the same period of last year, according to the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).

EY: More companies bet on growing business in 2014

A new Ernst & Young study shows that 40% of Romanian business leaders are confident in the growth of their businesses in 2014, up from just a quarter of them in 2013. 28% of respondents foresee a significant growth of +10 to +30% for their company’s turnover in 2014 compared with 25% in 2013, while 67% expect a growth rate of +5 to +10%, compared with just 51% at the beginning of last year.

92% of Romanian managers are worried about the fiscal burden growing heavier, according to a PwC study. Romania’s managers rank second in the world for their “fiscal” fears, after France’s managers, and way above the global average of 70%.

H&M passes the EUR 100 mln sales mark in Romania

The H&M Group’s sales including VAT increased in local currencies by 9 percent during the financial year. Sales in comparable units were unchanged. Converted into SEK, sales excluding VAT amounted to SEK 128,562 m (120,799), an increase of 6 percent.

Holcim Romania has a new CEO

Francois Petry is the new CEO of the Romanian subsidiary of cement manufacturer Holcim. He is replacing Daniel Bach who has been recently appointed area manager for South-East Asia.

The Bucharest office of construction materials producer Saint-Gobain has been relocated to Floreasca Park, in the northern part of the capital, the company has announced.
