The Romanian business environment had a satisfactory evolution in the second semester of 2014, after three consecutive previous quarters in which the economic evolution was unsatisfactory, which significantly affected the SMEs sector, National Council for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of Romania (CNPIMMR) Chairman Ovidiu Nicolescu told a press conference on Thursday.

Romania recorded the second largest increase in hourly labour costs in the EU in the first quarter of this year, with a 7.1% advance. Latvia saw the largest increase with a 7.3% growth.

Average net salary goes up in Romania in April

The average net salary in Romania amounted to RON 1,857 (EUR 421) in April, 1.5% higher than in March (RON28). Compared to April 2014, the increase was of 7%, according to latest data from the National Statistics Institute.

UniCredit to raise number of IT centre employees by 20 pc

UniCredit will raise by 20 per cent the number of employees at its IT centre in Romania, a centre set up in 2005 and which currently has approximately 1,400 employees. At the same time, the Italian banking consortium wants to get involved in financing IT&C industry entrepreneurship but also in developing tertiary IT education.
