The American group entered the local market in 2010 with a 1,800 sq m space rented in the Sigma Center office building in Cluj, developing projects for Samsung. Sykes has now reached four local units (two in Cluj-Napoca and one in Sibiu and Oradea).
In 2016, Sykes Entreprises Eastern Europe, the company that controls the Sykes local brand, reached 89 million lei (19.8 million euros), up 42% year-over-year and net profit stood at 11 million of lei (2.5 million euros), according to the website of the Ministry of Finance. Sykes Enterprises, based in the United States, has 65 customer relations centers distributed in 23 countries and over 54,000 employees, providing technical and informational support in many foreign languages.
The 30 largest call-center companies generated last year's cumulative revenues of over one billion lei (over 200 million euros) and together have about 12,000 employees, according to data from the National Trade Registry Office.
Of the top 30 players in the call-center market, 17 companies are headquartered in Bucharest, and the rest have offices in Cluj, Sibiu, Iasi or Brasov. (source: bizbrasov.ro)
