In February and March of 2017, 17,607 companies were established in Romania, with 8.3% more than in the same two months of last year, when 16,244 companies were established, according to the National Trade Registry Office.

As regards the establishment of PFA, the increase is 19% in February and March 2017, compared to the same two months of 2016, to a total of 9,122 registrations. In contrast to 2016, there is an obvious increase (+ 19%), but the PFA's registrations remain lower than in all months of February and March of previous years.

More than 2.8 million businesses were established in Romania since December 1990 and by March 2017, of which 1.32 million have been radiated in the meantime. Thus, the survival rate of a business in Romania is 52.7%. In other words, about 1 in 2 businesses manage to stay alive in Romania, according to REGnet.ro calculations made on the basis of ONRC data for the last 25 years. Also, an analysis of the seasonality of the establishment of companies in Romania over the past five years reveals that spring is the season in which entrepreneurial initiative has its greatest momentum.
