The ONRC data shows that 21,862 companies filed for insolvency in the first ten months of 2012. 3,323 companies filed for insolvency in October, more than twice the number of those that did the same in September (1,536).

Bucharest and Bihor top the list of counties that register the highest number of insolvencies this year, with 2,959 (up by 13.46 per cent year-on-year) and 1,366 (up by 25.67 per cent) cases respectively, followed by Galati (1,293 cases, up by 37 per cent). The smallest numbers of insolvencies were registered in Calarasi (167 cases) and Harghita (191 cases).

 

Commercial companies continue to be the most numerous companies that have faced financial difficulties, with over 8,296 of them filing for insolvency (up by 8.6 per cent year-on-year), followed by construction companies (3,128, up by 3 per cent), hotels and restaurants (2,667, down by 21 per cent) and processing industry companies (2,575, up by 5 per cent).
