The certificate evaluates the sustainability degree of a new or existing building, being a frequently used standard on Romanian market and CEE.

According to JLL’s market research, at the level of CEE capitals approx. 950,000 sq. m office spaces are already awarded with BREEAM certificates, following that another approx. 310,000 sq. m office spaces to get this certification in the next period.

 “An increasing trend of the green office request can be seen, so the owners take into consideration the getting of this kind of certificates the sooner as possible. Our part as consultants in such a certification procedure is to identify the best strategy in order to obtain it and to coordinate the process, by assuring, thus, the certification getting”, said Cezar Florea, BREEAM International Assessor within JLL Romania.

Apart from the BREEAM certification, Jones Lang LaSalle also offers advisory for certification according to LEED standards, developed by US Green Building Council.

The main purpose of USGBC is to promote new methods of designing, construction, exploitation and operation of the buildings so the impact towards the environment should be at least. Initially used as proving methods of the owners’ engagement in sustainable developments, the American LEED classification system and the British evaluation system BREEAM became universally recognized reference

 

Various studies published over time showed that the buildings with certificates are 20-30% more efficient considering energy and water consumption compared to the buildings without certifications, this efficiency also leading to occupiers’ satisfaction growth. (source: dailybusiness.ro)
