Possible merger between Mega Image and Ahold

Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize, the owner of the Mega Image supermarket chain in Romania and Dutch retailer Ahold have started negotiations on a possible merger, according to Belgian newspapers, cited by Reuters.

Marks & Spencer opens first food store in Romania

Marks & Spencer (M&S), one of the leading retailers in the UK, announced on Wednesday the introduction, in premiere on the Romanian market, of the M&S Food division, which comes with the opening of the company’s latest clothing and food store within Plaza Romania shopping center in Bucharest. Romania’s retail turnover up 3 pct in Q1

The National Statistics Institute (INS) said on Tuesday that this March, the turnover in retail trade volume (except for the trade with vehicles and motorcycles) increased by 13.6 percent compared to the previous month as gross series and decreased as adjusted series by number of working days and seasonality by 1.6 percent.

Auchan starts the relocation of the 400 employees from its headquarters in Drumul Taberei

French group Auchan, which operates in Romania a network with 33 hypermarkets and registered last year over a billion Euros turnover, will start in the end of April to relocate the 400 employees from its headquarters to the office building developed by the company in Drumul Taberei neighbourhood in Bucharest.
