The positive results of the Austrians came in the context in which the construction sector in Romania gave signs of revival, the construction works increasing with approx. 13 pct. in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period of last year, according to data from the Statistics.

„The transport infrastructure sector stabilized in Romania“, is the only referral to the local construction market made by the Austrian company in the report. Therefore, the engineering or infrastructure works have grown with 2.7 pct. in 1Q, according to Statistics.

The new projects won this year by the Austrians on the local market include the construction of a highway segment of 10 km between Ungheni and Ogra, with a value of EUR 57 million. Moreover, Strabag also won a contract for the construction of the first two buildings of the office project Oregon Park in northern Bucharest, an investment of the group Portland Trust,headed by British Robert Neale.
