The factory was built 150 years ago by a German businessman - Erhard Luther -, but since 2005, shortly before the works for the Basarab passage have started, closed its doors, as the production of Gambrinus beer being relocated to other factories of the group.

„In the end of 2013 we completed the sale process of the real estate property of the former Griviţa beer factory“, said Onno Rombouts, Managing Director of Heineken Romania, without offering details about the transaction value or the name of the buyers.

According to ZF data, the land of 2.7 ha of the former factory entered the portfolio if a group of investors, including Ionuţ Dumitrescu, the founder of the real estate consultancy company Eurisko, currently CBRE Romania.

 

Last year, before the sale, Bucharest City Hall has approved an urban plan enabling the construction on this land of a hypermarket and office buildings with maximum 14 floors, also stipulating that a series of historical buildings inside the factory should be kept and preserved. (sursa: zf.ro)
