Foreign direct investment is considered to be the most beneficial investment made by foreign companies in an economy. It is long-term and usually has positive effects on the economy and wages.

Foreign companies invested directly in Romania 4.08 billion Euros last year, 18% above the previous year, being the highest level in the last eight years.
This level almost covered Romania's current account deficit, estimated by the Nation Bank of Romania at 4.1 billion Euros. (source: forbes.ro)
