The long-term external debt amounted to EUR 77.39 billion at the end of September 2014 (80 percent of the total external debt), down 1.9 percent compared to the value registered at the end of December 2013.


The net flux of foreign direct investment reached EUR 2.7 billion in 2013. Around 61.4 percent of the investment went to the Bucharest-Ilfov area, while the North-West region of Romania managed to attract only 4.5 percent.


The top investing countries were Holland (with 24.4 percent of the total), Austria (with 19.1 percent), Germany (with 11.2 percent) and France (with 7.6 percent). (source:
