Oana Adjudeanu has become the first consultant in Romania with the international LEED accreditation for green certification of the existing projects.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, internationally recognized, consists in a program of independent verification, by third parties, of the buildings, in order to establish the conformity rate with the environment sustainability strategies.

The buildings submitted to a certification process receive points regarding the accomplishment rate of a set of criteria, considering: the sustainable development of the site, water and energy efficiency, the selection of the materials and the quality of the interior environment. The premises and the credits offered are different depending on the established evaluation system, this decision being taken by the team responsible for the certification process.

According to USGBC data, globally almost 1 billion sqm are in ongoing process of obtaining a LEED certification, while the total area of the buildings certified daily is around 140,000 sqm.

Colliers International is one of the first real estate consultancy companies in Romania accredited to offer consultancy for buildings’ green certification, following the launch of this service in 2011. Colliers offers consultancy for the obtaining of the LEED and BREEAM certificates, for the existing buildings, in order to improve their performance and sustainability, as well as for the new projects. Currently, the company is assisting 12 projects in Romania and over 20 projects in CEE in the green certification process. In Romania, Colliers International has assisted City Gate North Tower in Piata Presei Libere from Bucharest to obtain the LEED Gold certificate, being the first operating building in Bucharest to obtain this certification.
