In April, Patrick Espasa, former general director, announced that Auchan could open the Drumul Taberei unit earlier in December, although the official deadline is early 2015.

The Drumul Tabarei centre will also include a commercial gallery and an office area for Auchan and Immochan, the French company’s real estate division.

Auchan has another hypermarket currently in development in Brasov and has finished the remodelling process for 20 Real hypermarkets in the first half of the year, after a EUR 40 million investment.

After integrating the new units it acquired from Metro in 2012, Auchan Romania posted a turnover of RON 4.6 billion at the end of 2013 and currently employs 11,000 people. (source: business-review.eu)
